I believe that therapy can make a big difference in people's lives, and I feel privileged that I have
the chance to be a part of others’ journeys.
I offer individual, couples, and family therapy, and work with a variety of people but specialize in mood disorders (depression, anxiety, etc.), grief and loss, trauma, and navigating challenging relationships. At this time I am accepting new clients from ages 12 to 112 and understand how different life stages are accompanied by different types of problems. A few of the populations that I have experience working with are the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, and people who come from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. I recognize the importance of factors outside of the therapy room that make us special and unique.
I use several therapeutic approaches depending on what is the best fit for my client but primarily believe in a Person-Centered approach which means that I believe my clients are experts of their own experience and I approach them with acceptance and empathy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is another approach that I use, which focuses on identifying and changing negative thoughts and behaviors. In my experience early childhood experiences play a major role in a person’s later life, shaping who we are today, and my approach recognizes these factors. I also utilize Existential Therapy which means that I like to help people find meaning in their lives and believe they have the power to choose who they want to be.
I have a passion for supporting people in helping themselves, believing that everyone is deserving of compassion and respect. When I am not at the office I enjoy camping, skiing, and traveling with my husband and our dog Kit who we are told looks like a fox. Ask me for a picture and you can decide for yourself.
